Social Media Influencers

How to Work with Social Media Influencers

First things first.

questions to ask before you partner with an influencer:

  • Do they have experience working with similar brands or products?

  • Does the influencer share the same values?

  • Does their content creation style match well with yours?

  • Is their audience demographic right for your business?

  • Will they provide a unique perspective or advice that could help your business “think outside the box”?

Assess fit with your industry and target market

Do your research! An influencer might have 100,000 followers, but it doesn’t guarantee that they’ll be able to produce results for every type of business.

Set Realistic Campaign Goals

Be clear about your expectations from the partnership, for example:

  • Increase traffic to your website

  • Promote a specific product with customized discount code

  • Highlight a new service and have them share their experience

  • Review a product/service on their social media

  • Grow social media following or online visibility

Be prepared to give the Influencer creative freedom

In a study done by Crowdtap, 77% of Influencers said that creative freedom was the #1 reason for wanting to work with a company. The Influencer knows their audience best and knows the type of content that drives engagement. You did choose them because of the content they create, right?

Request Reporting

Ask the influencer to prepare a weekly progress report and full summary at the end of the campaign. The recap can include follower growth, higher engagement on posts, clicks on custom URLs. The goal is to dig deeper to understand where the best customers came from during the campaign.
