3 Simple Instagram Tips for Interior Designers

Crafting the perfect Instagram post can take quite some time if you aren’t sure where to start. The three main things that make up a good Instagram post are:

  1. A strong image that fits your feed

  2. A captivating caption

  3. An optimized post such as a location geotag, hashtags, and tagging relevant accounts

Now, let’s take a deeper dive into these three building blocks:

#1: Imagery

Use carousel imagery to walk the user through final, finishes, and before. Give a detailed explanation of the project such as “This client came to us wanting…” When showing final touches, make sure they really WOW your audience!

#2: Captions - Be more specific!

The purpose of an Instagram caption is to tell a story that accompanies the photo you are posting. Depending on imagery, include information such as:

  • Why did you choose that specific wall colour?

  • What is your design process for a specific room?

  • What is on trend for bathrooms right now?

  • What makes a classic/timeless kitchen? How about an edgy kitchen?

Instagram captions longer than two sentences have to be physically expanded by the viewer in order to read the full caption. Therefore, make sure that the first sentence so powerful that it immediately grabs the reader’s attention. Don’t forget to include a clear call-to-action that prompts readers to click-through to your website!

#3: #Hashtag, You’re It

Identifying the right hashtags is vital when it comes to social monitoring and engagement. Hashtags have become a critical tool for increasing views and expanding your reach. Just make sure you use industry relevant hashtags. If not, your content risks getting lost in a tsunami of other Instagram posts.
